Thanks to my sister, I’ve gotten hooked on photography – so much so, I just made a big investment in a fancy new DSLR!
After weeks of comparing various DSLR cameras, I decided to go with the Nikon D3100, because I felt it was a nice balance of features, ‘newness‘ (end of 2010), and price (well, that might be a stretch). The most notable features that drew me to this camera were: full manual control (for when I get good), a guided auto mode (while I’m learning), HD video recording, a nice LCD info display, and a fast live view mode.
I’ve got lots to learn, but I’m already having a blast playing with this camera! More posts about this camera will come as I learn more, along with lots of new pictures to go on my flickr and picasa pages!
So far, this camera is a great fit for a camera n00b like me, wanting to get started with manual DSLR photography…
Update 4/7/2012: I just sold my D3100 and got a D7000!
are you still using the kit lens???
Ambrose:
Yes, I still only have the stock lens. I’m saving up for a wide-angle lens though…
