Thanks to my sister<\/a>, I’ve gotten hooked on photography – so much so, I just made a big<\/em> investment in a fancy new DSLR!<\/p>\n

After weeks of comparing various DSLR cameras, I decided to go with the Nikon D3100<\/a>, because I felt it was a nice balance of features<\/em><\/a>, ‘newness<\/em>‘ (end of 2010), and price<\/em> (well, that might be a stretch). The most notable features\u00a0that drew me to this camera were: full manual<\/em> control (for when I get good), a guided<\/em> auto mode (while I’m learning), HD<\/em> video recording,\u00a0a nice LCD info<\/em> display, and a fast live<\/em> view mode.<\/p>\n

I’ve got lots<\/em> to learn, but\u00a0I’m already having a blast<\/em> playing with this camera! More posts about this camera will come as I learn more, along with lots of new pictures to go on my flickr<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/span> and picasa<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/span> pages!<\/p>\n

So far, this camera is a great fit for a camera n00b<\/em> like me, wanting to get started with manual DSLR photography…<\/p>\n
