I stopped listening to the radio many years ago. I just can’t take it.<\/p>\n

As a teenager, I had two favorite alternative rock stations I listened to. I could turn on the radio at any time, and it was almost guaranteed that one of those stations would be playing a song I liked. Ah, those were the good ol’ days, and it’s amazing how music can trigger memories.<\/p>\n

Slowly, it happened that the newer the band to air on one of these stations, the less I liked what I heard.\u00a0At some point during my high-school years, and without\u00a0being aware of it at the time, the type of music I liked started to crystallize<\/strong>.<\/em><\/p>\n

Now, I despise any and all new “hit” music on the radio these days, and simply stick with whatever I had enjoyed when I was a teenager. Well, there has been some<\/em> venturing into different genres of music that I enjoy, but majority of the bands I listen to now remains very similar to the ones I liked back then.<\/p>\n

Realizing this, it’s funny to think that I used to make fun of my parents for not “getting” the music I liked. I just didn’t understand it, my music so good! How could they not<\/em> like it?<\/p>\n

Nope. My parents were stuck on the music popular back when they grew up.\u00a0But why?<\/p>\n

Listening to their “classic rock” reminds them of their teenage years.<\/em><\/p>\n

Yes, the same was true for me: hearing songs I loved during my high-school years brings back those teenage memories.\u00a0It wasn’t until I realized that\u00a0my<\/em> taste in music hadn’t budged much since high-school, that I could fully understand this. Now, slowly my teenage years <\/em>music is becoming “classic alternative”, and not too many people younger than me listen to it.<\/p>\n

With each generation comes “back in my day, music was actually good”.<\/em><\/p>\n
